Educational Services MCOE assists teachers, principals, and districts in implementing State Board Adopted Content Standards, which form the basis for curriculum development in grades Kindergarten through 12. The County Office also provides workshops that focus on standards implementation, textbook adoption, and research based strategies. Workshops, seminars, and summer institutes are offered across subject areas, addressing effective instructional strategies. 2011-12 Mendocino/Lake PLC Leadership Network YEAR 1 COHORT The Mendocino/Lake Leadership Network brings school/district teams together to deepen their understanding and implementation of professional learning communities (PLCs). Please refer to Year 1 PLC Leadership Network 2011-12 for more information. ADVANCED COHORT (YEARS 2 & 3) The Mendocino-Lake Leadership Network brings school/district teams together to deepen their understanding and implementation of the essential foundations and structures for sustaining highly effective professional learning communities (PLCs) and improving learning for all. Each session is dedicated to the study and implementation of research-based strategies that improve student achievement and narrow the achievement gap. Every session provides tools, strategies, and protocols that can be used immediately.

Reading/Language Arts (E/LA) Mendocino County Office of Education provides professional development in Reading/Language Arts focused on balanced, comprehensive programs and research-based strategies to improve skills of all students. The County Office also works collaboratively with the California Reading and Literature Project (CRLP), and the Redwood Writing Project (RWP) to provide high quality professional development to elementary and secondary reading and language-arts teachers.
